Well, I'm about to complete my first week of college. So far, it's been pretty good. It's great to be away from home and meeting completely new people from different parts inside and outside of Kentucky. It's also pretty good to be starting my English and Math courses already and getting those out of the way. The great part about this is that when my first semester starts int he Fall, I won't need to take math again! :D

I think that's pretty cool!

Well, I'm about to watch the movie Friday with a few people here.

Have a photo from my recent visit to Holiday World that I will publish a trip report of soon:

Friday, June 8, 2012

I also forgot to mention. I recenty made a visit to Holiday World and did a Trip Report on Theme Park Review, and on the Water Slide Database blog. Theme Park Review was more of an overview of the entire event, and the one on Water Slide Database was only a detailed review of Wildebeest and Mammoth water coasters.

I will post a trip report here eventually. Maybe this week, maybe next week. Depends on how busy I will be, how busy I make myself, or how motivated I am to do one.

Apologies if I don't do one soon.

Have another cat photo:

Well, things have happened since my last blog post. Many good things! :D Others... meh.

First of all, I finally graduated High School! The level of happiness I feel to finally have high school over... apparently hasn't struck me yet...

I haven't really felt any kind of overwhelming happiness for the fact that I finally got high school over with. I know I should, since it's something I know that I'll never have to repeat again. But, I just don't feel anything. Maybe it's because I'm about to attend summer college in a few days...

Yeah, I bet that's probably it.

That's another thing that I have to mention. I'm about to go off to college... during the summer... which means less summer free-time... or visiting water parks for my other website Water Slide Database. :-(

Oh well. One last thing I have to announce is that I finally got my first laptop.........

Yes... MY FIRST LAPTOP! The amount of excitement for this has hit me, and I'm still smiling as I type this blog! Reason why: I'M USING IT TO TYPE THIS BLOG RIGHT NOW! :D :D :D !!!

... Sorry, had a happy moment there.

That's all I wrote this blog to tell you about. To end this, have a random photo of a cat I took today.

(It's a stray, and I've been posting various photos of this and another cat to Tumblr and Twitter all afternoon!)

Well, technically not yet. I still have my finals to go through. Then the graduation ceremony.

Ughh, I also still have to revise a 6-page research paper for English class, and make an 8 minute video on "How to plan for summer schooling" for my Broadcast Journalism class.

Hopefully it'll pay off in the end, because after all this, I AM OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL FOR GOOD!

Too bad I also signed up for a summer freshman program this summer to help me get a head start on college. That takes 6 weeks out of my summer vacation.

*Sigh* I guess I won't be able to relax through all of June and July. Oh Well. I guess the bright side on that is I get to start college early. I'll finally be away from home and living on my own! I can't wait for that!

I'm probably going to miss my home though, but I'll probably get over it.

Anyways, before any of that stuff happens, I'll have a couple of weeks to actually relax and stuff. OH, and I'll also be visiting a certain amusement park for a certain event that I certainly enjoyed last year! (*hint, hint, wink, wink!*) So I should be able to get in my fill of summer break before the work starts up again.

p.s. I haven't posted a photo in a while, so why not post a random one here?!

Just wanted to share this awesome song I found on YouTube. This just might beat my already favorite song "Autumn Insomnia Session" by the Flashbulb.

This song is called "CAFO" and it's by a band from Washington, DC called Animals as Leaders.

The music video fro it can be found here since it doesn't allow embedding. Be warned though, there are some gross things that pop up within the video. Other than that, the music video only makes the song that much cooler!

Spontaneous Vacations, and a Greyhound

So far, my Spring Break kicked off when my dad and I flew to Minnesota to visit the Mall of America. The funny story behind it was that my dad asked me what I wanted to do for Spring break two days prior to leaving for MoA. I told him that I've always wanted to go to the Mall of America. Before I knew it, my dad had booked roundtrip flights for us to visit the mall in one day, and come back home in the same day!

Having to leave the state, do something, and come back in the same day also meant that we had to catch an early flight. A reeeealyt early flight. How early? Let's just say I had to wake up at 4:00am that morning.

As crazy as that plan sounded, it worked out perfectly. We never had to spend the night! (We never needed to in the first place.) We left home in the morning, visited the mall which was merely a walking distance from the airport, then we flew right back home! I wrote a trip report on my visit here if you want to go through the photos and video.

That trip was... *checks calendar*... four days ago. I stayed in Kentucky for two days before I did another spontaneous trip and flew down to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my mom. That is where I am typing this blog post BTW.

I don't have any plans for what to do whatsoever. Six Flags Over Georgia is out of the question since I won't be able to visit it. I have to be back home by Friday, and the park operates weekends during the month of April.

I don't do meet-ups with people online for paranoia and other obvious reasons, so don't bother asking.

Something is probably going to pop up unannounced, just like hundreds of other spontaneous vacations and trips I've dont in the past. I just wish my family could have some sort of a plan for what to do at least a few weeks in advance so I can be able to... I dunno, prepare properly for it? But I guess things like that aren't going to change here. Hopefully I can branch away from that habit once I'm in college and able to travel on my own... with friends of course.

Hopefully I'll be able to find something to do in the mean time other than fill out scholarships, watch TV, and surf the internet. Till then, I have someone to keep me company!

Say hello to Derby!

He is a HUGE male greyhound!

He was brought from a greyhound shelter devoted to saving greyhounds from abuse.

He is sleeping on a dog bed across the room from where I'm sitting. He's a sweet dog when he's not chewing on my sneakers.

I guess he'll help keep me occupied when i'm not doing much around here, because he sure can be a handful to keep straight!

... I gotta go, he's chewing on my shoes again.

Trip Report: Mall of America Pt. 2 (April 6, 2012)

Continuation from part one which is here.

Where was I...? Oh right!

Trip Report: Mall of America (April 6, 2012)

Out of a spontaneous decision two days prior for what to do for Spring Break, I suggested Mall of America. Before I knew it, I woke up reeealy early one morning to catch a flight to Minnesota with my dad, spent a day at the mall, and came home the same day! First time I've done a trip like this before, and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly!

Heavy Metal Discord T-Shirt

Just made this post to say I WANT THIS T-SHIRT!

It just looks so cool!

Too bad the shirt costs $25. Then you add shipping and handling, which is an extra $16 dollars. Soon, you're looking at a $41 dollar T-shirt...

I don't feel like I have that kind of money to spend on things like this.

Personal DSLR Post

This blog post will consist of random photos I've taken while I talk about things unrelated to them. Why? Because I feel like it.

Ever since I started taking photos in my backyard, I've learned a lot of new things about my camera. The way it works, new ways to use it, and creative ways to see things I see everyday differently.

Soon, I expanded around areas I sometimes visit and started to take photos there as well. Honestly, it felt great to be going back to a state park in my town to take photos of things and experiment with my camera a little more.

Now... I don't even know what to take photos of anymore.

Or maybe, I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of my equipment other than just photos.

I can't own a DSLR just to take a high quality photo of a crack in the ground, or the stars in a night sky, some random coastal beach, a tree branch, a bird, etc. I feel like I can still get more out of my camera, but I can't find what.

I've turned to where I've posted my most creative shots, but all I really get out of them are a few favorites on some photos. I post some to Twitter, but I don't really get any reactions from other people. I have even turned to Tumblr where I sometimes post interesting shots. Not much I'm getting out of there as well.

Maybe I need to voice myself a little more. Maybe I need to bug people so I'll get their attention. I just don't know who to turn to.

Hmm... I'll keep thinking about this. When I come up with a solution to fill this hollow area inside of me, I'll make another post.

Opening Up

My friends would kill me if they found this out about me. Don't skip to judgement about who I am when I tell you this, because this will be the only place I'll ever make this announcement openly...

Hello, my name is Marcus...

And I... might be a brony.

There I said it...

*sigh* (Long read ahead)

It's getting late, I'm surfing the internet on my computer in my basement since I'm finished with 'most' of my homework, and my brother is playing Mass Effect 3.

I'm bored.

I started this blog so I could have something to do when when I felt I had nothing to do. I also started this in hopes of gaining some kind of audience to interact and talk with. But that seems quite far away as I look upon my blogger pageviews.

Oh well. Not everyone get's what they want, huh.

But you know what, I'm not going to stop. Sure I won't be blogging, tweeting, YouTubing (Not an accepted term... yet.), or tumbling as often as I see my friends and family do. But still, I won't stop bringing content to this page.

I plan to hopefully share my adventures outside this land they call Kentucky, and I hope to shoot plenty of pictures while I'm out as well. Because I don't care if I have an audience now, and I don't care for the fact that I never had an audience before.

I'm going to share things for my own sake.

For my own enjoyment.

Because I like sharing my experiences with others.

... especially if I don't get as much attention as others I know do.

... even if I don't have an audience

But what to share?

... I guess a random photo of mine would suffice for now.

Until next time.

Trip Report: Kings Island (Oct. 15, 2011) Pt.2

Part two of my visit to Kings Island in October. Click "read more" to visit this part.

Trip Report: Kings Island (Oct. 15, 2011) Pt.1

As a first post, I thought I would go ahead and do a late Photo Trip Report. I guess my choice will be my last trip to Kings Island in Mason Ohio. Click "read more" to go through the photos.

What am I Supposed to Post?

I'm still getting used to blogging. My only set-back so far is finding out what to blog about. I could use this as a travel blog, but I don't travel that much. I could use it as a personal blog and blog about my life in general, but nothing interesting happens much, and I'm not comfortable in getting into too personal of things.

I just can't find a certain spark for what I should be blogging about. Maybe it just wasn't meant for me. I don't really know any people my age who blogs. They're your average hang-out-at-malls-on-weekends or goes-to-a-party-every-weekend-and-such teenagers. They post on Facebook, tweet, and text. Other than my cousin whom I know has a Tumblr, that's it.

I'm always on the computer. Facebook (don't look me up), Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, DeviantArt, Tumblr, and a bunch others! Don't worry though, I get outside of course! Summertime, I drive around to places and take photos, and I travel with my family to different places. In the winter, I snowboard about once a week. I do things in-between those as well, but I'm usually found in front of the desktop.

My general life is quite uneventful compared to other bloggers I see. I guess I'll just need to squeeze what I can out of this blogging thing to see what i can get out of it. Any help from other bloggers out there would be so-very-much appreciated.

*plugs nose*

Wish me luck.

Featured photos of mine

I thought I would go ahead and post a few artistic photos I took. Not all of these come out perfect, and I am no professional, but I try. If anybody comes across this page, it would make me very happy if you were to critique or comment any of them. Thank you in advance.

Today, I went to school... Then I went home... yeah.

It's going to be quite difficult to find things to blog about, but I will continue to push myself to blogging things; as random as a lot of them might come out to be.

Anyways, I still haven't found out why my camera's microphone is not working. Maybe it got wet, maybe it received too many hits against walls and counters while it was in the bag, maybe it's grumpy. Whatever the reason may be, I don't know what it is and I'm getting just about fed up with it.
The worst part about it is that I have to use it for an important video shoot I am doing soon and I really need it fixed. I've already taken it to a shop and they gave me a few recommendations:

  1. They would send it back to Canon for them to inspect and return it, which would take about 5-7 weeks.
  2. I could take it by another shop they recommended where they can inspect it themselves.
  3. I could see if there is a firmware update for the camera.
Oh, almost forgot. The camera is the Canon Rebel T1i.

Anyways. Option 3 has been dealt with, and it doesn't seem to work, so I guess I'll take it to the recommended camera shop and see what they can do with it.

  • They would send it back to Canon for them to inspect and return it, which would take about 5-7 weeks. (Not gonna happen!)
  • I could take it by another shop they recommended where they can inspect it themselves.
  • I could see if there is a firmware update for the camera.
  • Update (02-20-2012): THE MICROPHONE WORKS! All I had to do was record a large amount of footage until it came back. NOW IT WORKS! :D

    Microphone is Shot

I picked up my DSLR recently and recorded video just for fun. When I played the video clips back on my computer, I found out that none of the footage had any audio to them.

Finding that fishy, I recorded more footage and played them back on the camera itself. Unfortunately, the audio didn't come through there either. >=-(

Great, just great. My camera's internal microphone is shot, and I might have to use it again for another important project I am going to. I really don't want to have to resolve to using a voice recorder. The audio quality isn't the highest... then again, it does something my camera can't; record stereo.

Hopefully I can find something that will get it fixed soon, because I really want to to continue working.

Anybody out there who lands on this page can help me with this problem?

While you think about it, I also hope you enjoy this experimentation I conducted recently!
